The Story Mosaic
An artist Residency in Whitlam, ACT, 2025.

Dr Pockets, and Dr Zsuzs, in a deep listening moment, ask playful/serious questions about who we are, where we belong, what stories we want to share, and how we listen to each other…

in June and July!
Hello ! We are two artists, Zsuzsi and Lisa, who are on-site as Artist Residents in Whitlam, 2025.
From May until the end of July, we will inhabit the Whitlam Studio and appear at the Cafe, welcoming your inputs into our project centered on ideas of home, journeys, place, and belonging.
What are your values?
What nourishes your heart and soul?
Do you have stories, culture from here or other places you would like to share? What journeys have you made to arrive where you are now? What is ahead of you?
We invite you to contribute stories, drawings, fabrics, ‘post-its’, and other yarns to our Beehive Exchange or leave ‘messages in a bottle’ on days we are not there.
Drop in to observe as we create a story-scroll, based on ancient traditions of narrative scrolls and friezes that capture both epic journeys and domestic lives.
Help us celebrate the coming-together of stories in our final exhibition and installation in the last week of July.
Special Event
SLA Whitlam Sustainability Day, June 15
As a visitor on this day, we’re guessing you’re just a bit into making things manageable, financially, and into making things sustainable for yourselves, your family and for the environment.
We’d love to hear your thoughts on your hopes for the future—how you’d like to live, how you’d like your habitat to be.
What ideas do you have about what makes a community livable? Is it about: warmth, protection, cost effectiveness, growing your own food, sharing stories and culture, being treated with respect?
We will be located inside and just outside the Artist Studio, inviting visitors to discuss, draw and explore ‘habitats for our future’, expressing hopes, dreams and ideas for sustainable futures based on ideas of belonging, connection to nature, community, and home.
Families, couples, individuals, young and old are all welcome. We will have a table (with safe, child-friendly drawing implements, and toys) set up for very young children.
